Security Vulnerability Alerts

Turn a published flaw into a useful warning

When a serious flaw is published, the difficult part is often not hearing about it. It is finding out whether the affected version is actually running on your servers. Sentinel compares published vulnerability information with the software versions reported by your read-only agent and turns a relevant match into a warning that names the affected servers.

What a warning contains

Warnings can cover common server software such as PHP, Node.js, nginx and OpenSSL, among other packages. The message identifies the software and version that matched, the version that fixes the issue when that information is published, and an update command your team can review. It is designed to give a person a sensible starting point rather than a vague link to a long advisory.

Application libraries on higher plans

On Pro and Managed, Sentinel also checks published issues in libraries inside your applications. That can include frameworks and libraries used by Laravel, Django, Express and Rails projects. It reads lock-file names and versions, not your source code, and reports the project folder or container context needed to find the affected app.

Know the limit

This covers published, known flaws only. It is not a penetration test, an audit, a compliance claim or a promise that your software is secure. A clean result does not mean unknown vulnerabilities are absent. The agent does not patch or restart anything. Which application libraries are included?

Checks for application libraries used by Laravel, Django, Express and Rails are available on request during early access.
